Nicolae Calancea’s team CS U Craiova failed to qualify for the final of Romania’s Football Cup. The team of the Moldovan goalkeeper drew 0-0 with FC Voluntari away after the first-leg match ended by 1-0 in favor of the team trained by Claudiu Niculescu, IPN reports.
Calancea also played in the return match in Chiajna. However, Craiova will play in Europa League the next season as CFR Cluj didn’t get an UEFA license. Even so, Craiova coach Gheorghe Multescu tendered his resignation after the elimination from Romania’s Cup.
Nicolae Calancea also played for Zimbru, Krylia Sovetov, Ceahlaul and FC Voluntari. He was summoned to the national football team of Moldova for the June encounters with Israel and Georgia.
