The Civic Union for Direct Democracy calls on the population to boycott the assembly scheduled by the parties of the government coalition for November 3, saying it is a ‘meeting of shame’.

The Union’s leader Ruslan Popa, in a news conference at IPN on October 28, said the representatives of the ruling parties force the people to attend the November 3 event even if they do not share the same political ideas. “Many people informed the Civic Union that they are threatened and blackmailed into taking part in the meeting,” he stated.

In this connection, the Civic Union for Direct Democracy announced that the people who are forced to attend the meeting can call on 079440447. “The participation in such actions must be voluntary. Nobody is banned from taking part, but it’s not right to oblige the people to do something against their will,” said Ruslan Popa.

In the same news conference, representatives of the Civic Union called upon the population not to support the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) in the next legislative elections as this party discredited itself politically.

According to Ruslan Popa, in 2009 the PLDM won the people’s trust, having a powerful team of professionals behind. “Alexandru Tanase, Mihai Godea, Vitalie Nagacevschi, Veceaslav Negruta are among the personalities who managed to convince the people that the PLDM will improve the situation in the country,” stated the union’s leader, adding that after they left the party because of the  PLDM leader Vlad Filat, the party does not inspire confidence.

The Civic Union for Direct Democracy said that in the four years of government, the PLDM fulfilled none of its promises made before the elections. Moldova hasn’t yet obtained a liberalized visa regime with the EU and Communists’ wrongdoings weren’t penalized.

On November 3, the parties of the Pro-European Coalition will stage a demonstration in support of Moldova’s integration into the EU in the Great National Assembly Square. The people were invited to state their stances on the country’s European course.
