Ten nongovernmental organizations and initiative groups from Causeni, Stefan Voda, and Anenii Noi districts and from the Transnistrian region have taken part in training courses on the social protection of families in difficulties within a project implemented by the Causeni-based Association of Psychologists Tighina.

Contacted by IPN, the Association’s executive director Ludmila Afteni said the project managed to strengthen the partnership between NGOs and local public authorities from ten target settlements. The goal was to implement public policies on integrated social assistance and to use the community resources to socially reintegrate persons in difficulty.

“The main product of this project was the extension of the regional support network to include ten NGOs and active community initiative groups dealing with problems of families in difficulty with a view to providing services of a high quality for the beneficiaries,” stated Ludmila Afteni.

An element of the project was to promote volunteer activities for the communitarian development of the target settlements. By creating community initiative groups and by training them, the volunteers succeeded in implementing five civic mobilization projects in November 2012 – February 2013.

The project “Assistance service to NGOs acting in the social protection of the families in difficulty from the districts of Causeni, Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi and Transnistria” was implemented by the Association of Psychologists Tighina with financial support from USAID within the Moldova Civil Society Strengthening Project that is carried out by FHI360.
