Twenty nongovernmental organizations took part in a training course in financial management that taught them how to delimit the internal organizational responsibilities.

Contacted by IPN, Stela Jerebtsov, who taught the course, said the NGOs were trained to differentiae between the financial and bookkeeping aspects, to plan and efficiently manage the financial resources so as to carry out organizational activities. Another aspect referred to the structure and specific elements of the financial reports, the importance of working out and using internal financial management procedures.

According to Stela Jerebtsov, in many organizations it is not known who is responsible for the efficient use of the financial resources and for reporting. But more and more backers want the NGOs to present clear financial policies. “The training course focused on financial management in noncommercial organizations, the financial manager’s duties and the financial responsibilities of employees, the money planning, monitoring and managing procedure, and financial reporting,” she stated.

The training course in financial management forms part of the Moldova Civil Society Strengthening Program that is funded by the United States Agency for International Development and implemented by FHI 360 Moldova in partnership with the Centre for Organizational Training and Consultancy (CICO).
