A recently-founded nongovernmental organization, Transparent Moldova, says the President of Moldova, the MPs and ministers should take the polygraph test. The organization’s head Simion Lungu told a news conference on Friday that Moldova is not a state of law, but rather an imitation of such a state, where the political system is very “sick”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Simion Lungu said the lie detector test is the only way to get at the truth. “Only this way, will we find out where the loans go, how much money have the politicians and how they came to power,” he said.
Transparent Moldova proposes a solution for combating corruption – the person found guilty should be punished with up to 50 years’ imprisonment, confiscation of property and withdrawal of pension.
The NGO also suggests immediately creating a public commission that would supervise and monitor the work of the governors and public servants. As to the electoral system, Transparent Moldova says 50% of the MPs should be elected under party lists, while the other half in uninominal constituencies.
According to Simion Lungu, Transparent Moldova was founded one month ago to contribute to changing the political and economic situation in the country.
