Boris Asarov, president of the Transnistrian Association “Pro Europa”, stated that the former Speaker Marian Lupu was one of the provokers of the April 7 devastations. “His slogan “Let’s Stop the Political War” is an example of cynicism,” Asarov told a news conference on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to him, Marian Lupu initiated a similar protest on April 8 in Balti, where he had discussions with two company managers and asked them to take the people out in front of the City Hall. But they refused to get involved in such political actions, Boris Asarov said. The president of “Pro Europa” said that the Lupu project is a creation of Mark Tkachuk, who is a candidate on the PCRM’s ticket. “The project is extremely dangerous for Moldova because it is not aimed at Moldova’s European integration and is not a pro-Russia project, though it had been consulted with Russia during Voronin’s visit to this country and to Israel. “In fact, the tactics and strategy of the project have been well-planned by Tkachuk and aim to federalize Moldova and change the state symbols and the political environment,” he said. He stressed that Marian Lupu’s past is also open to question. “Until recently, no one knew that Marian Lupu was a student of the Moscow State University “M. Lomonosov”, from where he was expelled,” Asarov said. According to him, the reason for the expulsion was a grenade that student Marian Lupu held illegally. Later, his father Ilie Lupu, who was a dean at the State University of Moldova (USM), facilitated his son’s transfer to the Faculty of Economics of the USM. “At that time, the deans of the faculties were foreign students studied were employees of the KGB (Committee for State Security),” he said. Boris Asarov also said that while a Speaker, Marian Lupu protected dishonest persons involved in trafficking in human beings, illegal transportation of cars and many other activities. “Lupu’s current team is composed of persons protected by Mark Tkachuk, who are involved in a number of projects, including the elections in Gagauzia,” Asarov said, mentioning Igor Corman, Valeriu Lazar and Alexandru Stoianoglo, who, together with Marian Lupu, are candidates on the list of the Democratic Party (PDM). “Though they have arguments, the Communists do not accuse Lupu of dubious business practices, while Rosca’s insignificant criticism leveled against Lupu is designed to convince the people that “Lupu” is an independent project, while in reality it is a satellite of the Communists,” Boris Asarov said. Earlier, when asked by Info-Prim Neo to comment on Asarov’s statements, the PDM leader Dumitru Diacov said: “They are aberrations uttered at the instruction of Rosca and Tkachuk. In PDM, the project is called “Lupu-Diacov” or “Diacov-Lupu”, full stop. Talks were held only between the two of us.” Marian Lupu could not be found for comment.
