The public organization “Citizens for the rights of children, disabled persons and pensioners” pleads for creating a commission that would investigate “the crimes of judges and prosecutors”. Lawyer Ilie Rotaru, who heads the organization, in a news conference at IPN, said the justice sector reform and the fight against corruption are mimicked in the Republic of Moldova. The contests to choose persons for administrative posts at justice system institutions are rigged and “former active collaborators of the regime of Plahotniuc” (ex-leader of PDM Vlad Plahotniuc, e.n.) are promoted to posts.
According to the lawyer, the strategy for ensuring the independence and integrity of the justice sector, which was published in the Official Gazette on January 31 this year, was copied from a document worked out by “right-hand men of Vladimir Plahotniuc”. Ilie Rotaru said he asked three MPs if they read this document and none of them answered affirmatively.
Ilie Rotaru said tens of cases over swindle were started by order in the Republic of Moldova the last ten years. They do justice on TV. The arrest of five former MPs on unjust enrichment charges was also a “televised show”. If the five go to the European Court of Human Rights, large amounts in damages will have to be paid from the state budget.
Businesswoman Izabella Timofeeva, a member of the organization, said she was illegally held in jail for eight years, being convicted in a fabricated criminal case after she took out a loan. In prison, she became ill and got a second disability degree. When she was set free, she didn’t have any assets and had other cases fabricated against her.
Lawyer Ilie Rotaru called on the persons “who are victims of fabricated cases” to come to the public organization “Citizens for the rights of children, disabled persons and pensioners” if they don’t know what to do and they will be helped.
