The Civic Union for Direct Democracy criticizes the Liberal Party (PL) and its representatives, blaming them for the dissolution of the Alliance for European Integration and naming them accomplices to acts that caused damage to the state. The Union’s leader Ruslan Popa said the Liberals, by their refusal to support Vlad Filat in Parliament, played the Communists’ game.

The Union is holding a series of news conferences where it gives reasons why the people should not vote for the political parties in general and for candidates apart. After providing arguments against the PLDM and PDM, the Union’s leader today informed why the PL should not be among voters’ preferences in the next elections. He made the statements in a news conference at IPN.

Ruslan Popa said the Liberals caused damage of millions of lei to the state by the project to modernize the national trains proposed by the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, which was then headed by the Liberal Gheorghe Salaru.

Criticism was also leveled at Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinut, who is one of the Liberal reformers. According to the NGO, nine soldiers were wounded fatally or killed themselves over the last four years. In a European country, the minister would have resigned long ago, said Ruslan Popa.

The Union considers the PL should not come to power because the most ardent supporters of the Liberal doctrine left the party because of its leader Mihai Ghimpu.

The Union’s representative Grigorii Kovalenko said the PL does not deserve being voted because it promotes Moldova’s union with Romanian and the replacement of the official language with the Romanian language.

The Civic Union for Direct Democracy reiterated the call to the people not to attend the public meeting that the parties of the government coalition will stage on November 3.
