The legislative body that will be formed after the ordinary parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 will work according to new rules. Given that the next Parliament will include MPs chosen by single-member constituencies, the current legislature will do a parliamentary reform in the autumn-winter session and will adopt a new Code of Parliamentary Procedures that will stipulate other methods of work in the legislative body, IPN reports.

In a conference held to sum up the results of the spring-summer session of Parliament on August 1, Speaker Andrian Candu said he regrets that the contest to choose the company that will do the technological reform in Parliament lasted for so long. “We wanted to do these changes simultaneously with the competition of the mandate. At the start of the year, we expected that the election campaign will start in September – October. We postponed a little the activities related to the election campaign and the Parliament’s efficiency should be ensured in September – November. The reform will be done in autumn and the new provisions will take effect on January 1 so that the new Parliament will have a new structure,” he stated.

According to Andrian Candu, the concept of the Parliament structure and optimization is ready. The new legislature will not include parliamentary assistants that now number over 100 and are a burden for the budget. A plan of action will be presented in August and a number of electronic systems, including electronic voting, will start to be applied as of September.
