News to constitute 40% of broadcast programme of national TV and radio stations

During October 15, 2006 – April 15, 2007, news programs will constitute 38% of the broadcast grid of the national TV station Moldova 1 and 39% of the programme of Radio Moldova.
The Council of Observers of “Teleradio-Moldova” Company approved on Friday, September 29 the broadcast programme of those 2 stations for the next 6 months.
On Moldova 1, news will constitute 38% of the broadcast programme, social-economic programs – 17%, followed by music, entertainment and programs for youth, for which 9% will be offered of the total broadcast programme. National minorities will receive 5% of programs in different languages. A new cycle of programs will appear on Moldova 1. It will be temporarily entitled “Moldovans from everywhere”, and will be dedicated to Moldovan citizens settled abroad.
On Radio Moldova, news will as well cover the biggest part of the programme space – 39%, followed by music programs, which will cover 27%, cultural programs – almost 6%, and in the languages of some national minorities – 2.5%. Victor Tabarta, director of Radio Moldova announced that the broadcast program will include 18 new projects.
The member of the Council, Nicolai Oleinic referred to the necessity of broadcasting more programs tackling country’s reintegration.
Victor Osipov, another member of the Council mentioned at the meeting that the weekly broadcast programme for Radio Moldova is better prepared and includes a series of new programs. At the same time he laid stress upon the necessity of changing the format of the news programs, especially on Moldova 1 and the necessity of respecting the recommendations of the Council of Europe and OSCE. As well he said that those 2 stations have too little debate and European integration broadcast.
Adela Raileanu, the director of Moldova 1 declared that the present format of the news programs was approved by a group of American experts, who organized a workshop in Chisinau.
Also today, the Council of Observers approved the resignation of Sergiu Batog, from the position of deputy head of TRM, general producer and approved creation of a new subdivision – editorial service, Info-Prim Neo informs.
