As from next year, the hearing screening for newborns for the first time will be covered by the common health insurance program. This is provided in the draft mandatory health insurance budget for 2024, which was approved by the Cabinet. Under the draft law, the state will pay allowances for the commuting medical personnel that live and work in different localities, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, this will enable to extend the package of medical services, including to prolong the list of compensated medicines and medical devices, to procure medical services within special programs and neurological medical services for patients with acute stroke.

There will be covered the costs of individual prostheses and expensive consumables needed for the surgical rehabilitation of patients with malign and benign tumors. High performance services will be acquired for diagnosing diseases in children and grownups. An e-prescription system for compensated drugs will be introduced.
