The apartment buildings managed by the municipality may have the windows and entrance doors replaced. They will be energy efficient and will be installed with the aim of reducing heat consumption. The announcement was made by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, IPN reports.
Dorin Chirtoaca said the windows and doors can be changed within the Moldovan Residential Energy Efficiency Financing Facility (MoREEFF) project implemented by the EBRD. But the dwellers must give their consent to this and sign the financing contract. If the building managers manage to collect the signatures, the municipality will obtain financing from the EBRD and a grant of 30% of the loan. The rest of the loan will be repaid in five years.
Dorin Chirtoaca said the managers of apartment buildings that do not belong to the municipality can also apply to the project. “The works will cost about 15,000 lei per stair and 25,000-30,000 per a stair in a nine-story building. The tender contest will show. But we anyway must implement this project so as to insulate the stairs and reduce heat consumption,” said the mayor.
He underlined that the works can start in autumn or in spring at the latest. The contract will be signed with every owner and dweller. The order of performing the works will be arbitrary.
