A woman died in the hospital after she was struck by a Scoda Octavia, driven by the deputy head of the State Road Administration Vasile Filip, on the Chisinau-Leuseni road, not far from Ivanovca village of Hancesti district.
According to eyewitnesses, the car swept away two women aged 33 and 43 who were selling watermelons by the roadside. The daughter of one of the women was nearby, but she was unhurt.
Paulina Yakimovski, senior PR specialist at the Traffic Police Division, has told Info-Prim Neo that the accident happened at about 17.30 on July 14. The official was going to the flood-stricken Nemteni village, when he lost control of the car. The vehicle skidded, struck the women and overturned. The three were rushed to the Hancesti hospital with very serious injuries. Shortly afterward, the 43-year-old woman died.
Several hours later, a Mercedes E-200 driven by a 26-year-old man from Drochia town made a U-turn and crashed violently into an Opel-Vectra near Drochia. The driver and an occupant of the Mercedes as well as a passenger of the Opel were hospitalized with different traumas.
Three persons were hurt when a Mercedes-220 collided with a Dacia-Logan at the intersection of Miron Costin St and Moscova Blvd. in Chisinau.
A motorbike ridden by a 39-year-old man crashed into a lamp post in Olanesti village of Stefan-Voda district. He was admitted to the hospital with a cranial-cerebral trauma and a contusion.
One person was killed and 12 injured in seven road accidents on July 14. 38 accidents caused no victims.
