New U.S. Ambassadors presents credentials

William Henry Moser, the new United States Ambassador to Moldova appointed by American President Barack Obama, has presented today, September 12, the copies of his credentials to the Moldovan authorities, Info-Prim Neo learned from a MFA press release. The documents were received by Deputy Minister Natalia Gherman, who welcomed the Ambassador and wished him luck with his new assignment, emphasizing that the Moldo-American relationship has in recent years seen an unprecedented dynamism and deepening. Natalia Gherman has also stated that Moldova further counts on the United States' support in its European integration aspiration and in settling the Transnistrian dispute, and has reiterated our country's interest in being removed from the application of the Jackson-Vanik Amendment, which concerns trade relations. Natalia Gherman assured William H. Moser of the Moldovan authorities full support in carrying out his mandate in Moldova. The American ambassador, for his part, expressed his excitement about his new assignment and stated that he was determined to cooperate closely with the Moldovan government to intensify bilateral dialogue. William H. Moser assured that the United States would further support Moldova in advancing democracy, promoting economic growth, fighting corruption and settling the Transnistrian conflict, said the MFA press release. *** Appointed by US President Barack Obama on 5 May 2011, William Moser was confirmed to the post by the Senate on August 2. As the news service AllGov.com reported, Moser was born and raised in North Carolina and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in the same state at the Chapel Hill University. Moser joined the American Foreign Service in 1984, serving over the years in various capacities in countries on four continents: Mali and Egypt (Africa), Germany and Ukraine (Europa), Suriname (South America), and Kazakhstan (Asia.) Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Moldova, William Moser served as deputy assistant secretary for logistics management at the State Department. William H. Moser replaces Asif J. Chaudhry, who had effectively served as U.S. Ambassador to Moldova since 8 September 2008.
