Urban furniture is being set up on the recently renovated sidewalks of the streets Pushkin and Bănulescu-Bodoni. This includes benches, flower pots, garbage bins and decorative stones in the form of hemispheres that prevent the parking of vehicles.
The urban furniture is bought with the funds of the Public Amenities Division. Contacted by IPN for details, the Division’s head Ion Burdiumov said the tender contest for purchasing the urban furniture was held on October 30. The budget totals 1.8 million lei. They bought 100 to 400 pieces of urban furniture from a national company for decorating the two streets.
Ion Burdiumov noted that the furniture proved its utility on Pushkin St. It was placed earlier on the section between 31 August St and Ștefan cel Mare Blvd and that section became really accessible to citizens as cars cannot be parked in the area. Both the benches and the garbage bins are used by passersby. The people keep them and this is important as is the fact that the furniture is made from rock-solid material.
More streets in Chisinau will be outfitted this way. It will be decided later which ones.
