The rescuers of a number of subdivisions based in Chisinau and other localities received new specialty vehicles. The 24 universal cars that will enable rescuers to intervene through snowdrifts and in flooded and marshy areas were presented in a ceremony at the General Inspectorate for Emergencies on January 4, IPN reports.

The Inspectorate’s chief, General-Major Mihail Harabagiu said the Inspectorate’s facilities have always been in the focus. The vehicles presented today were bought with public funds and cost over 17 million lei. The new vehicles will help rescuers to swifter reach a place and provide assistance to people. The universal cars enable to move through snow piles and any type of holes. They were assembled in Bucharest, Romania.

Attending the event, Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan said the facilities are imperative. “By equipping the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, we move closee to each citizen in our county. No one can say now what tomorrow will happen and no one can guarantee that our relatives and close people will not face an emergency,” stated the minister.

The new vehicles were handed over to the rescue subdivisions of Botanica, Ciocana, Buiucani, Râșcani and Centru districts of Chisinau and to the emergencies divisions of Edineț, Soroca, Bălți, Ungheni, Orhei, Cimișlia, Căușeni, ATU Găgăuzia, Cahul and the National Training Center.
