New tariffs on numbering resources allotted to providers of electronic communications networks and services and lower tariffs on some of the existing types of numbering resources will come into force on January 1. A decision to this effect taken by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) was published in the December 28 number of the Official Gazette, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Agency’s press office. The tariffs on the use of a number from the new numbering resources vary between 0.2 lei and 6 lei a year. The discounts range from 20% to 60%. The tariffs on the numbering resources were set taking into account the demand for them, their availability, the range of allotted numbers and the direct and indirect costs of using them in accordance with the National Numbering Plan. The decision was taken with the aim of simulating demand for numbering resources intended for the provision of public services, developing competition on the electronic communications networks and services market and of increasing the number of companies providing information services by phone. Under the legislation, ANRCETI manages the National Numbering Plan and regulates and allocates numbering resources to providers of electronic communications networks and services for payment. They transmit the allocated numbering resources to end-users/subscribers or providers or content services or use them themselves in compliance with the National Numbering Plan.
