New-type garbage bins to be set up in eight district centers

More than 1,000 new-type garbage bins will be placed in eight district centers of the Development Region “South”. They allow selectively collecting waste. The action forms part of the Integrated Waste Management Prospects in the Development Region “South” Project that is implemented with financial support from the National Regional Development Fund, Info-Prim Neo reports. During the project launch on Friday, Maria Culeshiv, executive director of the Development Region “South”, said they aim to improve the sanitation practices by efficiently managing solid household waste. Besides the over 1,000 garbage bins, there will be set up about 500 platforms for the bins. The workers will have four special vehicles and two excavators at their disposal. The old bins situated near apartment buildings will be moved closer to private houses. “This is a first step that will definitely be followed by others. I’m convinced that the project will be implemented successfully and will produce good results,” Prime Minister Vlad Filat said during the launch. The budget of the project is 19 million lei. The implementation period is two years.
