New trolleybus route opened in Chisinau

Chisinau's districts Botanica and Rascani will be connected by a new trolleybus route from May 16. Route No. 19 will start on Traian Blvd. and end of Studentilo St. Stefan Puiu, vice director of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company, said the route was introduced on a trial basis, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“There was no direct connection between Racani and Botanica. Only low-capacity buses connected the two districts. Thus, it was decided to open a new route, on a trial basis,” said Stefan Puiu.
The request to set up the route was made by the administration of the Technical University of Moldova, which has blocks in Botanica district as well, while the dorms are situated in Rascani.
The route will be removed if the number of passengers is low.
In order to avoid overlapping, trolleybus route No. 8 was withdrawn. Route No. 19 will follow its itinerary up to Pushkin St.
