New trans-border center to promote sustainable development between Moldova and Romania

The Mediation and Community Safety Center (MCSC) from Iasi, Romania, and the non-governmental organization “Child, Community Family” (CCF) from Moldova Monday have launched a project as to creating a permanent regional structure, aimed at contributing to strengthen the relationships between NGOs and the local public administrations near the border, called the Trans-Border Resources Center for sustainable development. The project is financed by the EU, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Laura Albu, the MCSC executive manager and project manager, says the question is about a virtual center to offer useful information to NGOs and to local administrations near the border, by publishing data on their profile, by presenting methodologies and tools related to the implementation of sustainable development projects.
Cristina Chertz, expert at the Resources and Consulting Center from Iasi says, in order to implement mutually advantageous projects, it is necessary that the partners to know one another. Till the end of this year, more than 50 permanent users of the site www.dezvoltaredurabila.eu are expected appear. The question is about 40 NGOs active in Romania and in Moldova, and, at least, eight local public authorities from the two countries.
Anatol Buzut , the mayor of Limbenii –Noi village from Glodeni district has said he's got the experience of working in such projects with international donors. “We got convinced that implementing some projects, we identify by ourselves, gets good results. They change the people's mentality and make them feel more responsible for what they do,” Buzut said.
According to the project authors, they are going to research the needs of the local public administrations from the border area, and the gathered data will lie on the basis of the future strategy in this respect. They will also write some 40 articles on the site and will şi publish a cros-border guide Romania – Moldova for sustainable development.
