The new students of the Chisinau Military Institute “Alexandru cel Bun” swore an oath of allegiance in front of officials of the Ministry of Defense and the National Army, the diplomatic corps, relatives and friends on September 11, Info-Prim Neo reports. Pro-rector Iurie Garnet said that 170 students of the 300 applicants have been admitted this year. “Twenty-seven persons will study to become carabineer, 35 – infantry soldiers, 44 – border guards, 28 – transmission officers, while 27 artillery soldiers,” he said. Fourteen students were accepted to study at the Technical Military Academy of Bucharest, while one student will study in Greece. When the young persons finish the studies, they will have the military rank of lieutenant. Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said the officers of the Armed Forces must be ready to actively take part in the country’s modernization, while their knowledge should meet the requirements in the fields in which they work. “The discipline, sense of duty and military honor, the power and courage are values that the military students should never forget. I’m sure the students of the Military Institute will do their utmost and employ the best military practices,” he said. One of the students, Andrian Ursu from Macaresi, Ungheni, said he chose the Military Institute “Alexandru cel Bun” because he wants to be able to defend his country and nation. ”I want to acquire knowledge in implementing strategic defense plans and travel to as many regions of Moldova as possible as a military man.” Andrian was accepted to the Border Guards Faculty. The students admitted to the Military Institute in August attended military integration courses at the Bulboaca training grounds. They learned to handle weapons and explosive devices. Since 1992, the Military Institute “Alexandru cel Bun” prepared for the Armed Forces over 1,200 officers for infantry, artillery, transmission, carabineer troops and border guards service.
