The pensions will be recalculated in stages. First of all, there will be recalculated the pensions set before January 1, 1999. As from January 1, 2019, there will be recalculated the pensions of persons who reached an insurance period after retirement longer than 15 years, while from January 1, 2020 the pensions of those who have an insurance period shorter than 15 years.

As regards the pensions set between January 1, 1999 and January 1, 2019, the recalculation will be done gradually, from 2021 until 2027.

About 2,500 persons will benefit from recalculation and the average pension will be increased 2.3 times – from 2,048 lei to 4,770 lei. The person could ask for the reexamination of the pension only once.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the bill that will be transmitted to Parliament for consideration and will be adopted during the current session is a new stage of the pension system reform in Moldova, which will contribute to reducing the inequities in the social insurance system.
