Persons with disabilities from Chisinau municipality will enjoy two new services at home - personal assistance and mobile team. The initiative, put forward by the General Social Assistance Division, was approved by the Chisinau Council in its May 30 meeting, IPN reports.
Thirty specialists selected by contest will work within the personal assistance service. Valeriu Negru, deputy head of the Social Assistance Division, said the contest is open to relatives of disabled persons too. A multidisciplinary team will choose the beneficiaries of this service from among persons with serious health problems. The personal assistants will work with the beneficiaries for up to 40 hours a week.
“The social assistants’ salary will vary between 1,000 and 1,500 lei. A sum of 681,000 lei was allocated from the municipal budget for paying salaries to social workers,” said Valeriu Negru. To date, about 100 persons applied to benefit from the given service at home.
The mobile team consists of a kinotherapist, psychologist, manager, and driver. They will visit the persons with disabilities at home to provide the necessary assistance. A sum of 236,000 lei was allocated from the municipal budget for this service.
