The negotiators on behalf of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), the Democrat Party (PDM) and the Liberal Party (PL) are to meet at a new round of negotiations to discuss the formation of a ruling alliance today, July 13. The information was communicated to IPN by the deputy head of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet, who said that discussions are held daily. After the meeting held in the evening of July 12, the political leaders said the discussions are constructive and they hope they will be able to announce a positive result in the near future. It was earlier reported that the announcement concerning the formation of a governing coalition would be made today.
Asked about the time limit for forming a coalition, the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat reiterated after yesterday’s meeting that the new Government must be invested by the end of July. He said the negotiations are productive and they are confident of a positive result. They discuss the formation of a parliamentary majority and of the Government, but haven’t yet fielded candidates. “We are to agree the formation of an alliance and will afterward make the announcements,” stated Vlad Filat.
The chairman of the PDM Marian Lupu said the discussions are constructive and positive. “We will make public the final result of these negotiations in a short period of time,” he stated.
The leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu also took part in the negotiations. Arguing he is in a hurry, he said only that the politicians are making effort to improve the state of affairs.
His colleague Valeriu Munteanu, who is the deputy head of the PL, said they are now not discussing the distribution of posts. They only have a dialogue whose tone is positive. Besides the conditions put forward earlier, the party also has new conditions aimed at improving the situation in Moldova.
Valeriu Munteanu said a new meeting will be held in the afternoon of July 13.
