Chisinau underlines the necessity of returning to the situation before the pandemic as regards the implementation of the so-called Berlin Plus package. Later, the processes would be advanced by keeping all the active forms of dialogue, including by planning a visit by mediators and observers to the Republic of Moldova in the immediate future and then organizing a possible rotund of the talks in the 5+2 format. The subjects were discussed in online consultations that involved the Special Representative of the Swedish OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting Thomas and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari, IPN reports.

The discussions between the two officials centered mainly on the dynamics and essence of the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol. It was underlined that two meetings between the key negotiators were held so far this year, while the sector working groups met for six times. The interlocutors emphasized the necessity of unblocking activities on the platform of the Joint Control Commission so as to solve the most pressing problems experienced in the Security Zone.

Olga Cebotari noted that the implementation of efficient measures for fighting the pandemic on both sides of the Nistru is a priority this year. On the initiative of the Moldovan side, together with the WHO, there were held two meetings involving health experts. Also, a part of the doses of COVID-19 vaccines delivered to Moldova were transferred to Transnistrian health centers and hospitals.

The interlocutors also discussed the measures and efforts made to optimize and ensure the functionality of the vehicle registration units in Tiraspol and Rybmitsa and the notable developments in the campaign to inform the Transnistrian citizens about the rules of taking part in international road traffic.

It was reiterated that the respect for the human rights in the Transnistrian region and the restoration of free movement to and from the eastern districts of the country are major issues for the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The officials underlined the necessity of mobilizing the efforts under the aegis of the OSCE so as to abide by the current international standards.
