New roof for scandal-related block in Chisinau

The dwelling block on Drumul Viilor str., 40 will have a new roof. Centru district head Vladimir Sarban has told Info-Prim Neo the matter was discussed Tuesday in the evening, March 4, in a reunion joining district officials and dwellers. The pretor says those 800,000 lei allocated by the Chisinau Municipal Council to repair the roof, stairs and draining pipes won’t suffice. Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, responsible for Chisinau’s urban development, has said the project on building the adjacent 14-storey block (on Drumul Viilor, 38) observes all the geotechnical requirements and norms. A month ago, the inhabitants of block no.40 on Drumul Viilor were evacuated after feeling strong underground tremors. According to the investigation, the trembling was caused by more protection pillars falling, in the foundation cavity of a 14-storey house that is being built behind the 5-floor block.
