Daniel Ionita, the new Ambassador of Romania to Moldova, will make effort to continue and strengthen the good relations between the two states and to promote the projects supported by Bucharest for the benefit of all the Moldovan citizens. The diplomat spoke about the priorities of his term in office in a news conference on June 8, IPN reports.
“I set out full of optimism and hope. I’m confident that I will succeed in doing what I plan, counting in this regard on the full support of the Romanian authorities and on the full cooperation of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova,” stated the ambassador.
Daniel Ionita said that Romania can represent a European integrating model for the Republic of Moldova. The fact that many Moldovan citizens are citizens of Romania too is an advantage. The assistance provided by Romania is intended for all the inhabitants of the Republic of Moldova, regardless of the area where they live, the language that they speak or the ethnic group with which they identify themselves. The fundamental principles during the term in office will include continuity, consolidation, perseverance and diversification of the bilateral relations in general.
“The Republic of Moldova is a perennial strategic priority in the external action of the Romanian state. Romania is interested in the stability of the Republic of Moldova and in maintaining its European course,” stated the Romanian ambassador. Among the key objectives of his tenure are to support the European course and to strategically, politically and physically reconnect Moldova to the European area.
The Romanian diplomat also said that the reforms must be promoted in Chisinau credibly and visibly, while the projects designed to strengthen the bilateral relations must be supported. A particular goal is to increase the Romanian investments in Moldova. The Transnistrian conflict is another important issue. Any solution to this should be identified taking into consideration the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
During his tenure, the ambassador will follow several directions, such as energy, infrastructure, non-reimbursable assistance, technical assistance, programs financed with European funds and consolidation of the common information area.
