New road section to be rehabilitated

The State Road Administration on September 18 will sign a contract to the value of about €9 million with the Bulgarian contractor SK-13 Patstroy JSC, for the rehabilitation of the R6 M1-Ialoveni road, 00+000 km - 6+550 km, over the next two years. The contract is part of the Road Sector Program for whose implementation the Government of Moldova received financial support from the European Investment Bank (EIB), IPN reports.

The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure said the contractor was selected at a competitive international tender contest, held in accordance with the conditions and purchase policies of the EIB and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. There were seven bidders for the contract.

The rehabilitation works include the replacing of the existing layer of asphalt, demolition and construction of small bridges, building of drainage systems, relocation of the piping system and installation of lights.

These road sectors are modernized with the aim of reducing the operational transport costs incurred by road users, the number of road accidents and the time spent in traffic, of improving the quality of life of the people living in the settlements situated near the road by diminishing the impact on the environment and of creating conditions of comfort and safety on the public roads.

The works will last for 24 months, while the defect notification period is 12 months.
