The crocodile of the Zoological Garden of Chisinau that has been hidden from visitors for over 40 years can be seen by the public as of April 30. After the repair and restoration works performed at the Zoo last week, there were also exhibited raccoons and capybara. In several days the visitors could also see an anaconda.
Contacted by IPN, Sergiu Panzaru, vice director of the Zoological Garden, said a cage with a pool was set up at the Zoo for exhibiting the crocodile. Special areas were also arranged for the capybara, raccoons and some of the birds that weren’t on display until now. Four snakes can be seen from today, while other snakes, including the anaconda, will be displayed in several days.
A part of the cages were renovated and the living conditions of all the animals and birds were improved last week. The decorations were renewed and new lights and cascades were installed. The costs were covered by the municipality, by donors and by the Zoo.
The Zoological Garden is open to the public from 8am until 8pm daily. A ticket costs, as earlier, 30 lei for adults and 5 lei for students and pensioners. Entrance for children younger than seven is free.
Asked about the project to extend the Zoological Garden that was approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council last yearend, Sergiu Panzaru said the area is prepared and they hope the project will be implemented during the next five years.
