The health authorities yesterday reported a new record high of cases of COVID-19 and of associated deaths, IPN reports.
As many as 5,138 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova on January 25 after performing 18,267 tests. Out of these, 158 were recorded in the Transnistrian region. A number of 506 cases are among health workers (119 – doctors, 255 – medical assistants, 132 auxiliary personnel). There were logged 24 deaths from COVID-19, three of which in the Transnistrian region.
Out of the 5,138 cases of infection, 30 are associated with contact outside the country: 9 – Romania, 7 – Russia, 5 – Italy, 2 – Germany, 2 – Israel, 1 – Egypt, 1 – France, 1 – Ukraine, 1 – Belgium, and 1 – the UK. Moldova so far has got 417,369 cases of COVID-19, as the Ministry of Health reported.
Out of the 2,242 persons with COVID-19 who are now in the hospital, 183 are in a very serious state and 21 of them were put on a ventilator. Another 1,343 persons got cured. In total, 373,179 infected persons had been cured so far.
As many as 16,824 persons with mild and moderate forms of COVID-19 are receiving treatment at home, while 2,124 are under supervision at home. Those who died were aged between 43 and 86, with all of the victims having comorbidities. The Ministry didn’t specify if those who died were vaccinated or not and what variant of COVID-19 caused most of the infections.
