The Government approved a bill to amend and supplement the Law on Social Assistance whose goal is to optimize the mechanism of implementing the social assistance program, IPN reports.
Thus, in accordance with the document, the minimum guaranteed monthly income will be indexed annually, based on the rise in the consumer price index for the previous year.
Measures will be taken to make the beneficiaries of social assistance more responsible. In this regard, the families that benefit from social assistance and the local social assistance bodies will sign a cooperation agreement to regulate the responsibility assumed by both of the sides. Thus, the applicants will have to present complete and truthful information to the local body. A commission will be constituted to check if the social assistance is used in accordance with the agreement.
The representatives of the local social assistance bodies will be held disciplinarily, civilly or criminally accountable if they do not meet the deadlines by which the decisions on the provision of social assistance must be taken.
