The Protocol was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Noël Barrot.

"France is a strategic partner and a firm supporter of our European path. Through this Cooperation Protocol, we strengthen relations and open new opportunities for cooperation in areas that are essential for the development of the Republic of Moldova," said Minister Popșoi.

The two ministers discussed the next stages of the process of Moldova's accession to the European Union and the importance of aligning with the acquis Communautaire. They also conferred on the technical support and expertise provided by the French side, including by sharing best practices in key areas.

For his part, Jean-Noël Barrot said that the Republic of Moldova can count on France's support in its efforts to modernize and get closer to the European Union.

Also, Popșoi and Barrot talked about the extension of cooperation in strategic areas, such as defense, countering disinformation, and energy, and about the regional security situation in the context of the war in Ukraine, stressing the international support’s crucial role in maintaining stability in the region.
