The Cabinet approved two decisions, on the initiation of negotiations and approval of the signing of financing agreements within the European Neighborhood Instrument (for Joint Operational Program Black Sea Basin 2014 – 2020 and Joint Operational Program Romania – Republic of Moldova 2014 – 2020), signed by the Government of Moldova, the European Commission and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration of Romania, IPN reports.

The first accord envisions €49 million worth of grants for financing activities that will be carried out by beneficiaries from the Republic of Moldova and another seven states (Romania, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey). Under the document, a number of projects will be implemented to improve the living standards of the people from the Black Sea Basin regions by sustainable economic growth and joint environment protection.

Under the second agreement, to the value of €89.1 million provided also in the form of a grant, financing will be offered for development projects in border areas that will be implemented by beneficiaries from the Republic of Moldova and Romania. The projects will contain joint activities in education, conservation and protection of the historical heritage and border security.

In both of the cases, the financing agreements envision co-financing of 10% on the part of beneficiaries. The accords are to be signed on December 12 this year. After they are signed, they will be ratified by Parliament.
