A new project to neuter cats without owners will be implemented in Chisinau in the immediate period by the Animal Protection Section of the General Public Amenities Division, IPN reports.
A number of 400 cats are to be sterilized this year. Besides being spayed, the animals will be vaccinated against rabies and will be microchipped.
The sterilization process will be performed by two nongovernmental organizations. To ensure the smooth running of the project, the cats will be neutered based on appointments made in advance. Only female cats will be accepted, by two animals per court of apartment building.
The inhabitants of Chisinau (without the suburban settlements) who wants cats to be sterilized will fill out a form.
After submitting the application, the people will be contacted during two or three weeks for the animals to be sterilized. As the number of sterilizations is reduced, only the planned number of applications will be accepted.
