A political project called “Moldova Noua” (New Moldova), launched Wednesday in Chisinau, stands for settling the Transnistrian conflict by making a federation with three entities: Basarabia, Transnistria and Gagauzia, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Its founders are three young men: the advisor of the Gagauz governor, Veaceslav Craciun, a Russian-language writer Vladimir Lorcenkov and the chief of news agency Regnum's office in Moldova, Yevgeny Sholar.
They told a news conference the want to build “the civic Moldovan nation”, on the basis of ethnic equality and Moldovan-Russian bilinguism.
They put forward their own plan of settling the Transnistrian conflict, which provides for integrating the country on the principle of equality in rights of the sides. They say Moldova should sign a draft friendship treaty with Transnistria and cancel its 2005 Law on the status for Transnistria.
Moldova Noua's founders say that, in order to enhance the trust between the Nistru's two banks, the Moldovan side should observe a total military and political neutrality, to give up to its army, to stop participating in GUAM and in programs with NATO.
The three young men are skeptical as Moldova's prospect of European integration, and stand for amiable relations with the Russian Federation.
They say they are willing to participate in the parliamentary elections within a party which would share their ideas. They avoided to disclose the number of people in the project, but specified they have got supporters in Transnistria, Gagauzia and Russia.
