The Political Party “People’s Will” was registered recently by the Public Service Agency. The administration of the party that has over 6,000 members said the “People’s Will” is an alternative to the political organizations existing in Moldova. With 24 local organizations, the party aims to restore the rule of law and democracy and to represent the people’s will.

In a news conference at IPN, the chairman of the “People’s Will” Party Stefan Uritu said that even if a number of impediments were placed, the registration ultimately took place on June 13. “We hope that a new start in the political life of the Republic of Moldova was made with the registration of the party and a team of honest people who will obey the law and morality will come to power,” he stated.

Commenting on the topical political events, Stefan Uritu said the delay in the process of validating the results of the local mayoral elections in Chisinau is a continuation of the wrongdoings committed by those who ensured the government’s comfort and do not accept the change. Uritu, who was deputy president of the Central Election Commission, noted the objections invoked by the opponents of the mayor-elect should have been dealt with on the election day. If the law enforcement agencies do not obey the law, the party will seek help from the people.

The leader of the new party also spoke about the banking fraud. According to him, it seems that this issue is forgotten, but they say that money continue to be embezzled. The prosecutions service does not do its job in investigating the banking fraud and holding those to blame accountable. Therefore, the party that assumed responsibility for the functioning of this institution should step aside.

As to government functionaries’ statements that progress has been made in the Transnistrian settlement process, Stefan Uritu said no concrete things are visible in this regard.

In another development, Ion Levinta, deputy chairman of “People’s Will”, said the party represents all the citizens and is supported by all the social sections, including the pensioners, veterans, young people, farmers and entrepreneurs. “The entire political elite fit the same mold. Those who have ruled are the descendants of the oligarchic mafia clans that captured the country and continue to rob the people. We, the “People’s Will” Party, are the party that represents all the honest patriots of this country,” stated Ion Levinta.

The constitution congress of the party was held at the end of this April.
