The formation of a new parliamentary majority is the best solution to the political crisis faced by Moldova, consider 42% of the respondents of a poll conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova. The results were made public in a news conference on April 19, IPN reports.

The Association’s chairman Victor Mocanu said that 20% of the respondents didn’t know what to answer when they were asked who is to blame for the crisis. 15% said the crisis was caused by the parties of the former Alliance for European Integration, 10% blamed Vlad Filat and his party for it, while another 10% - the Democratic Party. 7% of those surveyed believe that the population is to blame because it does not demand that the politicians work for the country’s benefit.

45% of the respondents have a negative attitude towards the possible early parliamentary elections, while 30% welcome such a denouement of the political crisis. Those who do not want elections said that the elections will solve nothing and that they are tired of going to the polls in vain.

According to the survey, the number of respondents who do not intend to cast their ballots in the possible elections increased. Only 44% of those polled would take part in the elections. This is the lowest percentage in the last five years, said Victor Mocanu.

27% of those questioned consider that President Nicolae Timofti didn’t contribute to solving the political crisis, while 45% want the Government to be led by a technocratic Premier.

47% want Moldova to form part of the EU, a decrease compared with the previous polls. The others want Moldova to join the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union.

The poll was carried out during April 1-13. It covered a sample of 1,195 respondents from 72 settlements. The margin of sampling error is plus-minus 3%.
