New opportunities for mobile virtual network providers

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) alloted numbering resources from the number block “071xxxxxx” to the mobile virtual network providers for specific services, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from the Agency. The services offered by mobile virtual network providers are widespread in the European Union member countries. These providers do not have their own licensed radio frequencies but provide services by using other networks or network elements owned by public mobile network operators under specific agreements, purchasing wholesale mobile minutes and reselling them to end-users. As a rule, the MVNOs have total or partial control over the SIM cards, the marketing policies, the brand, the billing and the support services offered to their clients. The licenses for the use of the phone numbers from the block 071xxxxxx in mobile virtual networks will be issued to the providers authorized by the ANRCETI. The authorization and licensing will be done by the ANRCETI free of charge. These licenses will allow for the sublease of the mobile virtual numbers.
