It takes more than a year and a half for a new Minister to fully understand how his or her Ministry functions. Also, a mandate for one or two years is not enough for developing reforms in a certain field. This is the opinion of political expert Corneliu Ciurea on the dismissal of Minister of Education Mihail Sleahtitchi and Minister of Internal Affairs Alexei Roibu, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “I am stupefied by these dismissals, even though there were foreseen by political commentators, and there were remarks on the Ministers’ performance. Nevertheless, continuity is desired, at least for the Minister of Education, because a one, one-and-a-half year mandate is not enough to promote reform, and this was not taken into account”, the expert stated. The newly appointed Ministers are not specialists in the respective fields, which means that they would need at least a year, a year and a half, to accommodate and understand what is happening there. Yet another period of stagnation for the Ministries, Corneliu Ciurea pointed out. The analyst believes that Vlad Filat is guided by political considerations when deciding upon the dismissal of Ministers, or appointing of new ones. According to Corneliu Ciurea, the dismissal of the two Ministers was convened upon. Things are somehow thought out behind the curtains of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), part of which are the two former Ministers, and these dismissals will not really “shake” this political organization. “I can, at the most, admit that one of them will leave the Party, but the PLDM is strong, because it is part of the ruling power, it will weaken only when driven into the opposition; it is a Party in which the ideology counts less”, mentioned Corneliu Ciurea. At the proposal of Premier Vlad Filat, President Nicolae Timofti signed today, July 24, the dismissal of the two ministers, and appointed Maia Sandu as the new Minister of Education, and Dorin Receam as Minister of Internal Affairs.
