The consulate general of Moldova in Bologna will be transferred to Milan, which is the second largest Italian city. Such a decision was taken by the Government, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. In the same meeting, it was decided to open a consulate in Padova, which will be administratively subordinated to the consulate in Milan, IPN reports.
According to the authorities, the transfer of the consulate from Bologna to Milan and the opening of the consulate in Padova will ensure Moldova’s consular presence both in the east and the west of the northern peninsula. Thus, more than 106,000 Moldovans of the over 145,000 settled in Italy will have access to consular services.
The costs will be covered with money from the 2013 state budget.
