The Ministry of Environment has announced the start of a project to set up a number of recreational routes in the forest in Durlești town of Chisinau municipality. The goal of the initiative is to make the forest more accessible to the community by providing opportunities to spend time outdoors, through running, cycling and walks for families with children.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Environment's plan to increase the accessibility and usefulness of natural areas for citizens, while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

"We started this Sunday in the forest of Durlești, where we intend to create a number of well-arranged tracks, which will be enjoyed by the entire community. I want us to transform forests into accessible spaces for people. These routes will provide opportunities for both sports activities and recreation," said Minister of Environment Sergiu Lazarencu.

According to the preliminary plan, four thematic routes will be set up:

Childhood Route (0.5 km), intended for young explorers;

Family Route (2 km), for walks;

Archaeological Route (1.2 km), for history lovers, who can discover the ruins of a Geto-Dacian fortification;

Forest Route (4.2 km), for nature, running or cycling enthusiasts.

The project will be implemented in compliance with the principles of environmental protection so that the forest preserves its natural beauty, becoming simultaneously a friendly space for the community.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Environment's efforts to promote an active and healthy lifestyle and to increase the accessibility and usefulness of natural areas. Additional details about the project will be presented to the public in the immediate period and the implementation will be subject to public consultations.
