Prime Minister Vlad Filat introduced the new Minister of Youth and Sport Octavian Ticu to the institution’s staff on February 27. Ticu was proposed for the post one day earlier and was confirmed by the head of state the same day, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Government, the Premier wished the new minister success in achieving the set objectives and assured him of his support. Vlad Filat said that Octavian Ticu is a professional who has the abilities and expertise needed to achieve the objectives of the Ministry of Youth and Sport. The Prime Minister also said that with the appointment of the new minister he expects the Ministry to take steps first of all in the area of sports infrastructure, with 20 million lei being allocated for the purpose. For his part, Octavian Ticu said that he is ready to examine new initiatives so that by developing the areas he will manage, Moldova is able to integrate into the European family. “I hope I will enjoy the trust, loyalty and benevolence of the institution’s staff,” he stated. The post of minister of youth and sport was vacated by Ion Cebanu.
