Stanislav Pavlovski resigned as minister of justice in the Government led by Maia Sandu. As a result, Premier Sandu proposed Olesea Stamate to this post, IPN reports.

In a posting on Facebook, Stanislav Pavlovski said he received the proposal to serve as a minister of justice from the administration of the Bloc ACUM as a great honor and thought he can improve many things in the sector. However, while working on the plan of action in the justice sector, he identified a number of personal incompatibilities that make his service as Cabinet member impossible, according to the Constitution.

“Being a jurist with an experience of over 39 years, six years and a half of which as judge at the European Court, I treat the Constitution as something holy that should be strictly obeyed. We, those who form part of the Political Party “Dignity and Truth”, of the Bloc ACUM, declared and proved by concrete acts that we are different from those who were removed from power by the sovereign will of the people of the Republic of Moldova and that the law for us is above everything. Namely for these reasons, I didn’t look for legislative pretexts to remain in the post of minister at any cost and decided to submit my declaration of incompatibility with the post of Cabinet member to Ms. Prime Minister Maia Sandu,” wrote Stanislav Pavlovski.

Shortly afterward, Premier Maia Sandu announced that she suggested Olesea Stamate for minister of justice. “Ms. Stamate until now headed the Association for Efficient and Responsible Governance. She is a bachelor of law and has a master’s degree in advanced European studies from the College of Europe and is a lawyer. She has rich experience in justice, internal affairs and the central public administration reform. I thank her for accepting my proposal to form part of the governmental team and wish her success in her work,” Maia Sandu posted on Facebook.

The new minister of justice is to be sworn in on June 24. Later Olesea Stamate will be introduced to the staff of the Ministry of Justice.
