The new Minister of Finance Natalia Gavrilița was introduced to the Ministry’s personnel on June 17. Prime Minister Maia Sandu, when presenting her, said the main task of the minister is to restore foreign financing and to take structural measures that would improve the efficiency of public spending and would create conditions for growing the economy, IPN reports.
The Premier expressed her confidence that the budget could be supplemented with foreign financing, at least in the short term. For the purpose, during the next few days she will have discussions with the development partners. “From now on, we will work only in the people’s interests. From now on, we will make considerable effort to ensure that the public money is spent only for the purposes of the people and society,” stated Maia Sandu.
She described Natalia Gavrilița as a person full of ideas for improving processes and who likes to obey all the procedures.
For her part, Natalia Gavrilița said her first objective is to bring all the state institutions to normality so that these work for the benefit of society. All the public projects will be reviewed so that they match the principles of utility for the people and efficiency of public spending.
Natalia Gavrilița is the director general of the Global Innovation Fund based in London where she lived during the past three years. In 2013-2015, she worked at the Ministry of Education of Moldova and earlier at the Government and at the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
