Minister of Education, Culture and Research Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei said the institution she manages will pursue correct policies in all the areas of which it is responsible. In an event where the new minister was introduced to the staff by Prime Minister Maia Sandu, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei said she and her team will ensure a learning and working process that will support the development of young people in all the fields, IPN reports.
The minister said she will take all the required measures for developing and educating people with character who are not afraid, do not yield to intimidation and have critical thinking. She requested the Ministry’s employees to ensure maximum transparency and correctness in their activity and to put forward valuable initiatives.
In her speech, Maia Sandu said she is hopeful that the equation, culture, research, youth and sport sectors will continue to be transformed and these will become a national priority. “I want to tell you that we will now create all the conditions for the reforms to advance and the results to be felt and re-felt by everyone. I assure you there is political will for implementing the most ambitious reforms,” stated the Premier.
Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, 50, is the vice president of the Party “Action and Solidarity” led by Maia Sandu. She served as deputy minister of education in 2013 – 2015, when Maia Sandu managed the Ministry of Education, and one year earlier worker as adviser to Sandu. In 1998 – 2010, she served as executive director and trainer at the Educational Center “Pro-Didactica”.
