The MPs gave a final reading to a bill that institutes new military ranks for soldiers and sergeants. These will be correlated with the occupied military posts, studies and professional training, length of service and military rank held earlier, IPN reports.
The bill clearly defines the role of the soldier and sergeant at military units. The new provisions will ensure interoperability between the military personnel of the soldier or sergeant category with similar military personnel of other countries, in particular in multinational peacekeeping missions.
The military bodies will no longer be able to dismiss persons who have only secondary education when the period of validity of the first contract for working in the military service expires. Under the current legal provisions, when hiring soldiers with secondary education, the military service contract is signed for a period of three years on condition that the person obtains lyceum or vocational education in the period. Otherwise, when the contract expires, the soldiers are dismissed from military service and get redundancy payments for three months.
The bill is the first element of the first stage of the process of professionalizing the Armed Forces.
