After a new meeting of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the situation on the currency market, the commission’s head Marcel Raducan said they questioned all the competent bodies and are to prepare a report. The leader of the Socialists Igor Dodon told the journalists that the politicians are trying to hide information of public interest on the pretext it is secret, IPN reports.

Marcel Raducan said on March 11 they will discuss the structure of the report that is to be compiled by the end of the next week. The meetings are held behind closed doors because there are presented secret documents.

According to Igor Dodon, it was confirmed that 13 billion lei was stolen from Banca de Economii and Banca Sociala last November. The money was converted into foreign currency and transferred to offshore areas. “It was also established that the Council for Financial Stability held a secret meeting last November. The Council advised the then Prime Minister Iurie Leanca to take a secret Government decision and Leanca called a secret meeting of the executive and approved the state guarantee for a loan of about 10 billion lei from the National Bank of Moldova for the two banks,” he stated.

“Everything was done under state guarantee. The banks used these credit lines and in January made profit owing to the speculations on the currency market. There is a lot of information that the commission members describe as secret and demand that we, the opposition, should not make it public. It’s certain that without the consent of the administration of the PLDM and PDM, this thing would have been impossible. Nobody n Moldova’s history committed such thefts. We will make everything possible for the information presented in the commission’s meetings to be made public, while the persons to blame to be held accountable.”

Also after the meeting, Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu said the stability of the budget incomes is in danger and the state authorities should take decisions to remedy the situation.

The commission of inquiry has to present the report in Parliament within ten days.
