The councilors of the Chisinau Municipal Council could not again come to terms. On November 3, a new meeting of the Council was postponed after the faction of the European People’s Party left the meeting hall in protest, saying they can no longer take part in the ‘political circus’, when the real interests of the residents of Chisinau are ignored. The Liberal councilors followed their example. As a result, the meeting was put off as the quorum was not present, IPN reports.

Disagreements arouse when the councilors were examining the proposal to sign an agreement of cooperation between the local public administration and the public association “Concordia”. The Socialist councilors abstained from voting, saying the rapporteur didn’t provide answers to their questions and the accord wasn’t appraised by all the commissions. The Socialists requested reexamining the matter.

The draft decision didn’t garner the number of votes needed to be adopted as several councilors of the pro-European coalition, which voted in favor, were absent from the meeting. After an exchange of replies and accusations between Socialist councilor Ion Ceban and Liberal councilor Ion Cebanu, Oazu Nantoi, of the European People’s Party, announced that he and his colleagues decided to leave. These were followed by the Liberal councilors.

The meeting was postponed. The date of a new meeting will be made public later.
