New local mayoral elections will take place in Târnova village of Dondușeni district and in Nucăreni village of Telenești district on May 17. According to the Central Election Commission, which took such a decision, both of the posts of mayor fell vacant after the persons were elected heads of Dondușeni district and, respectively, of Telenești district and tendered resignations.

Also today, February 4, the CEC decided to repeatedly assess, with support from UNDP Moldova, the 43 public buildings where polling stations will be established for the new parliamentary elections that will be held in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești on March 15.

The decision was taken following an audit commissioned by the CEC and UNDP Moldova to Infonet Alliance last summer. The study then covered 612 polling stations in Chisinau, Bălți, Hâncești, Căușeni, Edineț and ATU Găgăuzia, which represented 30%  of the total number of polling stations set up for the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019. Of the 612 stations, 432 were inaccessible, 174 were partially inaccessible and only six were accessible.
