The inhabitants of five Moldovan villages and communes will choose new mayors or local councilors on May 19. The Central Election Commission on April 9 constituted the district electoral councils that, for their part, will create the polling places and their electoral bureaus, IPN reports.
In Chetrosu village of Anenii Noi district, Manta commune of Cahul district and Oliscani village of Soldanesti district, the posts of mayor became vacant after the mayors chosen at the general elections passed away. In Visoca, Soroca, the mayor tendered his resignation.
In Mincenii de Jos, Rezina, the residents will choose the local councilors. The previous council was dissolved because it adopted no decision during six months.
According to the Central Election Commission, the May 19 elections will cost almost 180,000 lei.
